Pregnancy / Prenatal Chiropractic

I honor pregnancy as a time of great transformation, awareness, introspection, and growth for a woman. As such, my greatest passion is to physically, mentally, and emotionally assist people who are on the path to becoming parents, and to ease the process of bringing new life into the world through supportive chiropractic care. I have made the care of pregnant women (along with their babies) the focus of my training while still in chiropractic school, and the heartbeat of my practice since 2006.
I work with women who are trying to conceive, or have had difficulty conceiving, women who experience discomfort with the physical changes in pregnancy, pregnant women who wish to enhance their connection to their developing child, and women looking to optimize the birth process by maintaining balance in the pelvis throughout pregnancy. Throughout our time together, I aim to educate women on what's happening in/to their body, and to empower women to make the best birth choices they can for their individual situation. I work closely with other practitioners in the birth community to ensure the most supportive experience.
"Yes but what, exactly, can chiropractic do?"
Chiropractic works on a very physical level to gently restore optimal motion to the spine, pelvis, and supporting tissues. I combine traditional hands-on chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue work, cranial unwinding, and This naturally benefits the position of the uterus suspended in the pelvis, and allows the most room for the growth and movement of the developing baby. I am certified in the Webster Technique for optimizing pelvis position during pregnancy! Good news: Chiropractic care during pregnancy can decrease first baby labor times by 25%-32% compared to women who had not received chiropractic care throughout pregnancy. On the physical level alone, women benefit greatly from prenatal chiropractic care.
In addition to the physical benefits, chiropractic allows for the natural flow of the universal forces guiding pregnancy. As the nervous system is allowed to communicate more clearly, many women feel more connected to their babies, pregnancy advances more smoothly, and the experience of pregnancy becomes more joyous overall. Because of this, many women who experience no discomfort in  pregnancy elect to receive care.
I also feel that providing emotional and mental nurturing is vital to the women I work with. Whether it is through direct contact in sessions with me, or assisting in creating a community of support throughout pregnancy with doulas, midwives, doctors, other therapists, and other mothers, the emotional  and spiritual changes that accompany pregnancy are nourished with support. Pregnancy today can be very different from our ancestral roots, and I strive to foster the "village" support system we historically have had from mothers, aunties, wise women, and friends. As they say, "it takes a village to raise a child." It's helpful to have a village support pregnancy too!
Wherever you are on your journey to motherhood, be it pre-conception thoughts to 41 weeks with your sixth baby, I am here to assist in any way I can.
I look forward to being part of your adventure! It's an honor!
